I have had various interests in my life. My latest hobby started strangely and accidentally. Well, when my younger son had to make a figurine out of wood for a "handicraft" lesson, and I didn't have a suitable piece of wood, so I took a garden "cart" and went with my son to the forest to get some wood. Following his instructions, we found a linden tree and cut a small piece from the dried branch. However, my son's work was not going well; it was too small and the goat was too big. So I finished for him. Later, another piece of wood fell into my hand; I made him a little devil. Then, and this was a turning point and a significant moment, I started to carve a figurine of "Jesus looking out from a piece of a cut branch" with a razor-sharpened garden saw. Significant because blood was shed. At one point I cut two fingers at once with this boot. There was blood, and lots of it. I considered it my own sign and my sculptural baptism. After this incident, I decided to collect normal tools, i.e. carving chisels and a decent table, in the form of a thick slice from the trunk of a thick cherry tree that my neighbor had just cut down. I don't like modern, abstract, surrealist sculpture, etc. However, I like to create works based on images created in my imagination. Others don't have to like my work, it's enough that I and my wife like it. I'm happy if others like them, but I don't care. A common motif in my works is the face of an old man, because it contains a kind of beauty that cannot be found in other motifs. In other words, "I carve what I like in wood." |
After graduating in 1976 Technical Secondary School of Electronics in Bytom, and then in 1980, physics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of the University of Silesia, I started working at Zakłady Tworzyw Sztucznych Nitroerg S.A. in Krupski Młyn. After several years of work, I was entrusted with the task of establishing the IT Department, which I managed for 20 years. Later, on my professional path, at the Silesian University of Technology, I completed Postgraduate Studies in Computer Networks and Microcomputer Systems. At the same university, I was able to pursue a PhD in the area of integration of relational databases. |
